More than eight months after its Early Access release, Path of Exile 2 finally received its biggest update yet. Patch 0.3.0 The Third Edict overhauls the game’s campaign, endgame, and overall content depth.
POE 2’s endgame, in particular, adds 25 new maps, including all the new monsters and bosses from Act 4 and the three interludes. It also introduces a new Sprint ability, significantly increasing replayability by significantly increasing the speed with which players can complete the endgame and farm POE 2 currency in Patch 0.3.0.

Endgame Maps
Without further ado, let’s first take a look at some of the new endgame maps added in POE 2 Patch 0.3.0.
Rockpools Map
For example, in Rockpools, players explore a shallow, rocky coastline surrounded by coral. At the end of the map lies a massive Goblin King boss, ready to devour Sulphite and crush you like an ant!
You’ll need to explore and clear the town of Holten before encountering a Gothic Reaper-esque boss capable of manipulating storms and wiping you out with chaos.
Be aware that these newly added bosses are quite powerful, as the developers have added several new mechanics to exploit them in Atlas. These mechanics will appear quickly in the endgame and help bridge the gap between it and Pinnacle bosses.
Desert Biome Map
In Desert Biome Map, you may encounter a wild sandstorm. Each map surrounding the sandstorm contains a device that you must activate. Once activated, the sandstorm’s magic is disrupted, revealing its inner workings and allowing you to enter the map and uncover its cause.
The boss here is Faridun Swordsman, who has been gifted with the power of Time Djinn, allowing him to take his swordsmanship to the next level by duplicating himself, moving rapidly, and slicing through the fabric of time with powerful slashes.
Water Biome Map
In Water Biome, you’ll encounter a massive whirlpool connected to one of the maps surrounding the water biome, but the connection is obscured. You must explore nearby maps to find a beacon that will remove the whirlpool and reveal the connection to that map.
Mountain Biome Map
Another example is Vaal Vault encounter in Mountain Biome. Exploring the surrounding map will earn you a key to access the vault. Alternatively, you can spend some POE 2 currency at the exchange to exchange for a key directly.
Using the key dispels powerful forcefields, allowing you to locate elite enemies and claim the rewards within. These encounters include Uber versions of bosses from Act 4, as well as the bosses at the end of each Interlude. Each boss also has its own unique pool of Lineage Support Gems. These powerful Support Gems can alter your skills in some truly amazing ways.
Waystone Modifier Rework
Additionally, the modifiers on Waystones have received a rework, as the current stereotype of prefixes meaning good and suffixes meaning bad wasn’t quite right.
Each affix setting now has both difficulty and reward, just like in PoE 1. Waystone Mods can now increase the number of Waystones dropped and grant additional special bonuses. This means that as maps progress, their difficulty and rewards will increase, allowing you to better customize the difficulty and rewards of each map.
For example, Frostbitten mod grants enemies freeze damage while also increasing the rarity of their drops. Venom suffix modifier, on the other hand, poisons enemies when hit, with the added benefit of increasing pack size.
In short, some maps will ultimately have very high rarity, some will increase your pack size, and some will drop a large number of PoE 2 Divine Orbs. With more modifiers increasing difficulty, players can tailor their farming strategies to their specific circumstances and maximize their ultimate rewards.
Pinnacle Content Optimizations
Next, the developers have made some changes to end-game Pinnacle content. Players can now invest two points into specific League Atlas Trees before running Pinnacle content. Each type of content will have specific objectives for earning these points.
However, while accessing most Pinnacle content currently requires a special key, the key requirements for both the easiest and hardest versions are the same. This led many players to decide that rather than running the content at a lower difficulty, they would simply sell it to someone who could run it at the highest difficulty. PoE 2 currency earned from the direct trade was significantly more cost-effective than the meager rewards offered by the lower difficulty content.
To address this, each content now drops Splinters, but Splinters don’t craft into individual items. Now, instead of using individual crafting items in Realmgate, you can simply bring your Splinters with you.
After inserting Splinters into Realmgate, a screen will appear allowing you to select a difficulty, each with a different entry cost. This means that if you prefer to run easier difficulties, the cost will be lower, allowing you to run this content in the endgame faster.
And since these encounters now only require Splinters, their corresponding Atlas Trees no longer affect their difficulty and have been changed to purely map-specific content.
New Endgame Unique Items
Finally, they’ve also added some new endgame unique items. Let’s take a look at some examples!
Thunderfist is a pair of gloves that grants the player Crackling Palm skill, which enhances your unarmed attacks and allows you to summon a storm upon any enemy you strike. In short, every monster you strike with your unarmed skills will be struck by powerful lightning.
Another unique item is Hinekora’s Sight. Equipping this amulet grants you the skill called Foresight. With this skill, your evasion roll no longer prevents you from being hit. Instead, when you’re hit, your evasion roll restores you to full health and makes you invincible for a short period of time.
